So, upon a successful completion of my training, I will need to evaluate the performance of each nurse. The one who displays a high degree of professionalism will be considered for employment (Masters, 2000). As an experienced professional, I strongly believe in the quality of education being offered at the nursing training colleges. So, anyone who graduates with a degree must be a hard working professional. They have got all the theoretical knowledge and practical skills that is necessary for them in the field. Therefore, if given an opportunity to nurture their talents, they can come out as exceptional professionals. It is for this reason that I do take my precious time to provide them with the necessary mentorship on exactly what to do when on duty. I prefer fresh graduates because they are still new in the field. Despite having little experience, the truth is that these are highly motivated professionals with lots of ambitions and expectations. Having just taken the oath, they are still committed to strictly complying with the ethical codes of conduct for the nurses (McHale & Gallagher, 2003). Therefore, there will be no doubt that the new graduates will be serving the patients with the expected degree of benevolence, sincerity and confidentiality. So, these are qualities that I have to consider while making a choice of my nurse. Apart from being thoroughly trained at the university, I should ensure that vigorously mentor these nurses. Focusing on issues like practical skills, theoretical knowledge and the general application of nursing ethical codes of conduct are paramount (McHale & Gallagher, 2003).
